This beautiful and iconic centenary home shirt was designed for Barça by Nike to celebrate 100 years of the club founded in 1899. The classy 50/50 split design with the large spellout years on either side sets it apart from almost every other Barça shirt out there, in fact the 50/50 split design has only ever been utilised one other season, in the 08/09 home shirt. On the pitch it was a disappointing season for Barça as they finished runners up in La Liga to Deportivo La Coruña, and failed to take home any trophies either domestically or in Europe. Poor results signalled the end for manager Louis van Gaal, whose first stint as boss ended at the conclusion of the season. Incredibly, 99/00 was the first of five consecutive trophyless seasons for Barça – something that seems unthinkable now – but who really cares when the shirt is such a scorcher?
