The scene is set: Clydeside Athletic and Rutherglen Glencairn AFC, two Premier League juggernauts, will play in a Super Saturday Showdown at lennoxtown on Saturday.

One team’s dreams of GCFA Cup glory will be ended by lunchtime.

This GCFA Cup fixture has all the makings of a cup classic as both teams will be intent on going out to smash their way through to the next round of the competition.

Tomorrow’s fixtures marks the countdown to the business end of the GCFA season and any defeats could be absolutely fatal to any sort of trophy success.

Rutherglen Glencairn AFC are currently in position number three in the premier league after a patch run of results.

Clydeside Athletic have probably underperformed this season so far as they have mostly spent time in the lower half of the league table.

This match of the day is arguably a match up that Clydeside Athletic cant afford to loose if they are too lift a trophy this season.

MOST RECENT FORM ⬇️

The clubs had very poor match days last weekend with both clubs involved in difficult defeats.

Will last weekends results have any bearing on what will transpire on Saturday?

PREVIOUS MEETINGS ⬇️

Rutherglen Glencairn AFC hold the upper hand over Clydeside Athletic winning the previous league encounter four goals to nil.

The other Premier League Cup encounter finished in a 3-3 draw

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Obviously two players who spring to mind are Jordan Gilchrist of Clydeside Athletic and Willie Stalker of Rutherglen Glencairn AFC as they have been the players who have fired their teams to glory with some very important goal involvements.

We want to look at which players performances could make or break their teams special day.

First up we look at Jordan Gilchrist

The on form Attacker has all the tools to unlock even the tightest of defences. Murney had some injury problems last season but their is no doubt Corinthians are a better team with Murney in the squad

Jordan is a big game player and tends to find the net or put in a big performance when it really matters, The Rutherglen midfield will need to be on guard if they see Gilchrist’s name on the team sheet tomorrow.

Next up we look at Willie Stalker

The highly rated striker has been in sensational form for his team this season putting in top performances week after week

It’s no coincidence when he is on form then his team will be challenging up the top of the league.

Stalker is a modern day attacker capable of playing through the middle or in a wider position, in all honesty it doesn’t matter which role he takes up tomorrow, what matters most is can one of the most feared strikers in the league be stopped.

THE MANAGERS

This is Thomas Quinn’s first real stab at a full season in charge of hos beloved Rutherglen Glencairn AFC.

The Gaffer has slowly built up a squad to be reckoned with throughout his time at the club.

The team have been developing nicely over the last eight months and Quinn will be hungry for some cup Success.

David Hain has been a real leader for Clydeside as they have endured some difficult times off the pitch with their long term management duo departing

His beloved Clydeside team have been very inconsistent throughout the season as they are trying to recover from a very early managerial departure that rocked the club.

One thing we do know is that Hain has got the club back on track and they are a dangerous club to play at any moment in time.

BEST WISHES

Everyone within the GCFA would like to wish the clubs the very best on Saturday.
