HISTORY CORNER – A LOOK BACK IN TIME

We take a look back at our GCFA history and today we have a Results email from August 2016 which is just over eight years ago.

Name change

In 2024 Newlands under the stewardship of thomas Quinn decided to change their name to Rutherglen Glencairn AFC.

Name change

The long running Saint Davids hit some trouble in 2022 when their management team decided to step down.

On the verge of folding Alan Sharp who was the manager of Park Sports Project who were on a GCFA sabbatical decided to take over Saint Davids and change the name to Park Sports Project

Merger

In February 2024 Rosehill United and Croftpark AFC hit some problems and they decided to join forces and merge the clubs.

SAD TIMES

Since 2016 we have either lost teams through folding due to a host of different reasons.

Other clubs like Ansar Youth, Anderston Athletic, Crown Athletic and West Stone AFC have all since folded too.

Moved leagues

In 2022 Singer decided they needed a fresh start and decided to join the SMAFA to play their football.
